According to Citizenship and Immigration Canada CIC, visa applicants from Europe, the Middle East and Africa will be required to provide biometrics (fingerprints and photograph) with effect from 31 July 2018.  The biometrics program further expands to applicants from Asia, Asia Pacific and the Americas (excluding United States) from 31 December 2018. This implies all applicants (except US nationals) are required to visit the Canada Visa Application Centre in person to provide biometrics information.

To facilitate repeat travel to Canada, applicants will only need to submit their biometrics once every 10 years.
